I used an initial set of Aquila Nylgut Minstrel strings for the main five, and a couple sets for the remaining strings. The first, second, and fifth string pairs are tuned in unison, while the third and fourth pairs are tuned in octaves, using an extra fifth string for the third and a second for the fourth high octave strings. I put some angle in the neck, and originally had a 5/8” walnut bridge on it, to allow for head sag, but decedid to swap it out for a 1/2”, which made the action much better while eliminating some pressure on the head.
