Bacon Professional FF #3 "chubby Dragon" 1905....it should be labeled somewhere. What acquisition, the fretless?

The Bacon is the one you found in Hot Springs isn't it?

Yea thanks to Scott Coney and his dad.
Bacons are confusing due to the fact that Fred Bacon was a musician, not a banjo manufacturer. His first banjos were made by Fairbanks/ Vega in Boston; this is one of those, the #3 being the top of the line, this one is in the first year with sn 73. After a few short years he commissioned other manufacturers to build them. Years later Bacon partnered with Vega designer David Day to actually manufacture banjos....this was the jazz age and the banjo of the day was the tenor.
