So, how different is this instrument from the dutar?  Do they both have movable frets?  Microtones are cool!

Saz and Soz are probably related, I'm thinking, as are rubob and rebab- found in different configurations along the Ancient Silk Road, which Tashkent sits right on, of course.  Some of teh same instruments exist in the Balkans under different names- probably also originally from Central Asia coming into Europe  through the Silk Raos trade or with the Ottoman Turks. You must have a very interesting collection of folk instruments to look over in your area.  I think Rebab  and Dushpulur which is played in Tuva may be related as well, as both have a hide covered sound box. It may be that the Akonting from West Africa descends from Rebabi brought in by Arab traders a millenium ago- but I'm just guessing.  Looks like you're having fun
