My two favorite versions are by the Nashville Bluegrass Band and Dwight Diller. I love the lyrics as sung by NBB.

Nicely played and sung Janet. Tried singing along with you and getting to the high "Hold on" part was a stretch, which you deftly avoided with some appropriate lower notes.

Thanks, Rick. Higher notes are indeed a challenge. I so much more like to just play the banjo. But many times I find myself in situations performing with songs. As I sing the chorus here, it’s the same as Dwight Diller sings it. But not the same as the NBB. Another real issue would be the difference between a man and a woman’s range, speaking in general terms. You always need to find your own comfortable pitch. That’s why singing harmony with my husband and he singing harmony with me works well.
