This one is for my Mom who died last month after fighting Alzheimer's for almost 20 years. I originally bought this Frank Proffitt banjo in 1964 and was too poor to get a case for it (I was 14 at the time) so my Mom made me a soft case out of upholstery Naugahide. I played this tune in a medley at her service. Recorded on a Tascam DP-004.

From one the 2013 Festival of American Fiddle Tunes Band Labs - thanks to Riley Baugus for helping facilitate this one... 6 banjos, 4 fiddles, 2 guitars, a bass, and three afternoons of practice. I'm one of the banjos, playing my A-scale Hicker bubinga pot parts banjo.

This is actually about 20 years old, recorded on an old Yamaha 4-track tape player when I was living alone way up in the mountains in the Gold Country of California. Had lots of time on my hands to play in those days. Played on my Sleeter banjo.

Played on Super Gumby, my Deering Goodtime with a Dan Pennington cherry block rim with a cocobolo tone ring. Lots of hammer-ons and pull-offs in this one. Open C tuning. The Pennington rim upgrade makes this a whole new banjo for a very affordable price. Thanks Dan!
