Played by Dean Mednick on a probable Ludwig tenor rim which I built into a 5-string. The rim is heavy bronze cast, nickle plated, with an integral rim. Originally it was top tension, but in the absence of the top tension ring, I converted it to regular hooks and nuts on a notched brass tension ring.

A comparison of three banjos - 1) 12.5" x 3/8" thick green PVC rim with PET plastic heat shrunk head; 2) 11.125" x 3/4" thick white PVC rim with 1/32" baltic birch plywood head; 3) 11" x 5/8" thick Sissoo Rosewood rim (Helix build-up) with Elite Amber head. All banjos tuned to Open G.

Another take of Wildwood flower on my nylon strung, soda bottle PETE plastic head banjo. This one was recorded after the banjo was sanded and finished, with a different head installed.
