Banjo is tuned in D-tuning down 5 frets (makes the3rd & 5th strings D, not A). This lets you play the fiddle part using the D fingering but shifted down one set of strings to the bass side, which lets a fiddler play with a fretless banjo that is tuned low. version similar to Birkhead And Lane
