This is a Roasted Red Maple with Katalox top played on my mahogany banjo. The Roasted Red Maple sounds so much better with the Katalox top than the ebony top wood does.....at least to my ears.

This is a short clip I recorded using Reaper. The banjo is my mahogany TN20 with a Select Hard Maple Bridge. I record short versions mainly because I can't play lead on any other instrument...LOL...multi-instrumentalist I am NOT. I can barely play the banjo.....

Testing out some bridge wood sent to me by my friend YZ Newberry. This is maple from an old Engelhart piano hammer rail. The piano was built between 1908 and 1915. I'm playing my Kalamazoo tenor conversion with a brass hoop.

This is another short sound file of the YZ piano bridge. I'm playing my Kalamazoo rim with Sullivan conversion ring RB-00.

This is my curly maple banjo and the tempo is about where it should be on this version.

I've been watching a few videos of Jason Davis and I've been trying to figure out his playing of this song. Jason's timing and rhythm is so spot on in everything he plays. This is just a short snippet of the song. I'm playing my RB-OO Kalamazoo rim/Sullivan ring with the new select maple bridge.

Here's a couple of short clips in G tuning. The banjo still has a green (new) sound to it.

This recording is showcasing a new bridge wood. It is hard maple from the foot peddles off of a 1970's Wurlitzer organ. My good friend Y.Z. Newberry sent it to me about a week ago. Really nice bridge wood.

Sometimes it's fun to mess around with some effects on certain songs so I added a little reverb and stereo expander to this one. Be aware that the volume is louder on this one. You may have to adjust your volume level on your speakers.

Same song, same banjo, different bridge wood. Cut this red maple down on my back lot about a year ago.

A quick sound file of this hard maple bridge from a solid maple rockin' chair that was given to me from a friend of my wife. This is on my Kalamazoo conversion with brass tone hoop. Playing a Sammy Shelor version kick off in the key of B
