I found this melodic song, ?Saint Anne's Reel,? which sounds nice on the 5-string banjo. It is done in Standard Tuning, in the Key of G. Despite its popular association with Ireland, St. Anne?s Reel is actually of French-Canadian origin. The inspiration for the 1929 tune comes from a quaint French village named Baie Sainte Anne, situated on St. Anne?s Bay, near the mouth of Miramichi Bay in New Brunswick.

This is a great Irish reel to learn and play. Anurakt Scheepers has some nice tabs for this song. Dave Hum's family also sells Dave's tabs and original backing track for the song on their website. I used Dave's YouTube video as a template to make my backing track. I added a pulsating synthesizer like he uses, which is cool. I used MIDI for the bass, piano and drums. I also added a real audio drum loop to enhance the overall percussive sound. I humbly think the backing track came out nicely. Dave Hum plays the song in D minor (aDGBD). Anurakt plays it in standard tuning (gDGBD). Enjoy!

I am happy with the way this backing track came out. I used Dave Hum's YouTube video as a template. I found a cover drum track on YouTube for the Bee Gee's (Andy Gibb's) song "Jive Talking." It worked well for this song. To me the finished track has kind of a Rolling Stones vibe to it, but I think it works nice. Believe it or not, I am only using MIDI drums in this track, I'm not playing bass. I use MixCraft Pro software to make all my backing tracks. MIDI is fun to work with. I just use my mouse to enter the bass notes into the program. I listened intently to Dave Hum's bass playing and used that as a guide. I used MODO (a free bass emulator plugin for Digital Audio Workstations like MixCraft) of a classic 1960's P bass. I hope you like it. Enjoy my friend!

It worked well for this song. I also found a nice "Rattle Shake" (pun for "Rattle Snake") tambourine audio loop, which I used at the very end. Dave Hum uses this too in some of his backing tracks. I hope you like it.

I humbly don't think there's a bigger Dave Hum fan than me. I love the man and his music! He did such a great job playing this peaceful song in Double C tuning. I tabbed it out as Dave played it the best I could. I used Dave's recording as a template to make my backing track. I used a Gretsch short-scale bass, MixCraft Pro 10 recording software (for MIDI percussion also), Scarlett USB interface, Cort acoustic guitar, and I play a Kandu shaker in part of the track. I hope you like it. I tabbed the song the best I could as Dave Hum recorded it in Double C tuning, which is posted in the tabs section.
