I learned Betsy Likens in clawhammer from Miles Krassen's book Clawhammer banjo. Here I play it twofinger thumb lead (with index lead on the varaiation of the B part). I think it is a wonderful tune. I play it on my old unbranded Asian banjo that I bought in 1967. It has a little queer tone but I like the sound. Some of the sound may come from a homemade bridge.

This is still an experiment, I don't have it as I want yet, but it is a good demonstration of the thumb lead technique. I play it in A-tuning on a Samick.

This is more or less an own tune that I have figured out myself. I have stolen the theme from the family of Reuben's Train, 500 miles, 800 miles, 900 miles, Train 45 and others. In the 80's I also played it balalaika, so later I plan to put together a banjo-balaika duet. I call it East Islet Express after the commuter train I travelled a lot when I was younger ("Österskärsexpressen")

This is an old tune that needs no presentation. I learned it from Art Rosenbaum's book but added some own licks (I actually got some ideas from Tommy Jarrell's version). It is played in A-tuning on my Samick.

This is another tune that I more or less have composed myself. I have got some of the musical ideas from John Brown's Dream, hence the title, but I maltreated it a lot. It is in G modal tuning (Sawmill tuning). The first part is played with index lead, the second part is played with thumb lead and the third part is mixed and contains some thumb rolls that gives a nice syncopated effect. I play it on my old Asian unbranded banjo.

This is another homemade tune. It is a mixture of thumb-lead and lndex-led with use of thumb rolls. I made it out mostly because I needed (need) some good exercise. Played in A tuning on the Samick.

I think that John Brown's Dream needs no presentation. It is an old banjo - fiddle tune, usually played in Round Peak style. I have converted it to twofinger thumb lead (I am also exercising index lead but not on this recording). PLayed in A-tuning.
