I love that this site is here. I think it will be a great way to keep me motivated to learn and push myself. After the IBMA weekend here, I think I've settled on concentrating on claw hammer (thanks, Steve Martin) and I know there are some great teachers nearby. Also, once again, I got to play that Vega Old Tyme Wonder at the Deering booth. It's nice to have something to shoot for. I need to be good enough to play a $1,700 instrument before I buy a $1'700 instrument.
As for the contest entry, I'm really glad I did it. I missed the Old Time Fiddler's Convention in Athens, AL that my family always goes to this year and this was a nice way to start to come out of my banjo shell.
