Hi Tony very nicely done videos. I really enjoy your playing.
Question: it looks like your banjo is sporting two capos, care to comment? Thanks again, Pastor Harry

Tony, took a look at your videos today. Some of what I see is a bit different than what i have seen in the past. I will see if it helps me develope some more. I have not tried the cluck yet. Maybe I should give that a shot too. anyway, good videos.

Only one capo but you are probably catching a glimpse of my tuner a clamp on Intelli 500.I keep it on the strings right behind the capo as that puts it at the right distance for my reading glasses.

Thank you for the nice comments. I do hope to do more RSB videos in the near future, and I also plan to publish a couple pages of written instructions to go with them.

Tony, RSB is great!
I'm a complete, total beginner. The MIDI files are a huge help, as are the text and videos which actually do penetrate my rather thick head. I can't imagine the effort that went in to creating RSB.
I offer a big, heartfelt THANK YOU and I did become a member. I can't wait for the video game ;-)

Hey There Mr. Tony,
Once again a noob sends you thanks! The videos are very very helpful, especially since I simply do not have time to take any one on one lessons. The close ups and the slow actions are extemely helpful for a lost soul! Once again ...Thank You. I'll be cluckin in no time,....well....soon.

I am learning clawhammer from your videos! I like your easy, simplified way of teaching clawhammer. Being a 3 finger picker for so many years, I have had trouble learning clawhammer, but now, with practice from watching you...voila! I've got the bug!!

Thanks all for your support. I love to hear from anyone who uses RSB - and I want to hear your ides and suggestion, your problems too. I want to improve the book as time goes on and your feedback helps.

I love the song you play at the end of the Drop Thumb video. What is it?? and you don't happen to have tabs for it do you?
That video inspires me to learn drop thumb.

Every time I see or hear good clawhammer banjo, it makes feel as though I may have wasted 27 years on Scruggs!

Great sentence of yours.
"I strongly suggest certain methods (most teachers do), but I also admit that thousands have learned without my guiding hand to gently tug them down the flower pedaled path to perfect picking."
Nice chuckle there. ~ Trisha

Been playing 3-finger since the 70s, but I've off and on been trying to figure out "clawhammer" on my own for a long time. Decided I better get with it as I just bought an old Vega open-back. Started looking for some videos and found your RSB. The first one finally unveiled the mystery!! I had it all wrong. I thought the "claw" part was somehow an upward pluck with the index finger, and the "hammer" meant hammer-on with the left hand and hammer-down with the thumb. DUH. I practiced the stroke a couple of hours and it really started happening for me. Just felt "Natural" :-)) Thanks for solving the riddle of clawhammer for me! It's great to be learning something new.
