Man, I can't believe it, but "Banjo For Dummies" from Wiley Publications (the yellow-and-black book folks) is finally here! I have autographed copies available now at the
Native and Fine Music webstore and the book will be available in bookstores everywhere on Monday, August 13th.
It's a 320 page book with instruction in clawhammer, bluegrass, minstrel, classic, melodic and single-string styles with a complete buyer's guide, guide to workshops, camps and festivals and much more. Each book comes with a 94 track CD in which every musical example is played. There are over 120 great photos as well!
You can download pdf files of the Table of Contents, the Introduction, a sample chapter, the Dummies "Cheat Sheet," and a Dummies banjo cartoon by clicking
here.
While the book is perfect for the brand new players, there's a lot of material that will also be of interest to more advanced players (especially the sections on minstrel, classic, melodic and single-string banjo). And it's a fun read too (or at least I hope!).
It's exciting that the banjo has finally garnered enough respect for a Dummies book (no pun intended). Check it out and thanks for your interest and support.
Sincerely,
Bill Evans
