I heard 'The Incredible String Band's' first album as a teenager, and the two tunes played by Clive Palmer (Schaefer's Jig/Niggertown left a big imprerssion on me. I concentrated on my guitar playing for years, and several years back, got me a banjo. It was only last year when I got hold of a cd by an english player (now sadly deceased) called Ray Andrews, that I heard a lot more of the classic repetoir, and would love to get to grips once and for all with these two tunes. I play by ear,and by and large, can pick up most stuff I listen to,however, I'm not as familiar with the inversions for the various banjo tunings, as I am guitar. I am almost there with Niggertown, but life is too short for me to waste time when I could possibly get hold of the music and start there.Ideally, if someone has transcribed stuff to tab, that would be terrific,(provided it's accurate!) but I would also like to see the chords, and work out the inversions, as a last resort, I could try to work it out from notation, but I am pathetically slow, and like I say time waits for no man! Is there anybody who can help me out?
