I used both products with a flatpick (mandolin) and fingerpicks (banjo). I don’t have much of a problem with fingerpicks slipping but if my hands are cold, my thumbpick will move around some.
Both products helped with this problem. However, Sticky Picks seemed to evaporate over 15-20 minutes making it necessary to reapply. When using Sticky Picks on a flatpick, licking my fingers reactivated the product a little but not significantly.
Gorilla Snot was easier to use as there’s no shaking and dabbing involved as there is with the Sticky Picks product. Just scoop a little bit out with the tip of your index finger and apply to fingers and/or picks. I applied mainly to the pick but rubbed the residue between my index finger and thumb.
I found I was sort of reluctantly using the Sticky Picks product just for the sake of this review. The Gorilla Snot just seemed to be less hassle and didn’t have the evaporation issue. Just apply, let it dry a couple of minutes and it’s good for a couple of hours of picking. Plus, it smells good and it's just fun to say “Gorilla Snot”.
Gorilla Snot hands down for me.
