Picked up guitar in 1987, bass in 2012, and banjo in 2020. I can already fingerpick, so I decided to learn clawhammer in memory of my mother, who had a banjo but didn't know how to play it. I do like some bluegrass, but Appalachian murder ballads are where it's at.
