I just got through making my first banjo bridge. I made it out of maple and brazilian ebony(some really hard stuff). It's not that much to look at, but it sounds pretty good, especially for the first one. It's pretty loud too and has a lot of ring to it. I think I got it a little short, which is causing a litte buzz on the frets, but I'm not worried about that. I've learned a little from this and should be able to make one, hopefully, 10x's better!

I'm a 25 year old grad East Tennessee State University, with a BA in Political Science and minor in Bluegrass. I started playing music at the age of four when I started teaching myself piano. I played saxophone for 10 years, until this past May when I was forced to quit due to some minor back problems. I started learning mandolin 7 years ago, guitar 5 and banjo 2. I recently got into building mandolins after spending a summer with a local guitar builder, Johnny, and a master banjo builder, Ronny Bales, father of Jason Bales. I'm hoping to either get into politics or be a professional bluegrass musician either playing mandolin, guitar, banjo, or bass and, if forced, singing lead and/or tenor. If anything else, just ask.
