I am currently a processing archivist at the Smithsonian's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. I recently graduated with a master's degree in Ethnomusicology Program from the University of Maryland, College Park. I am also Project Director for a National Endowment of the Humanities Level-I Digital Humanities Start-Up Grant and am co-developer of the Banjo Sightings Database with banjo historian George Wunderlich. I enjoy conducting independent research on early banjo history as well as early banjo performance practice, the study of such West African instruments as the Jola ekonting, the Bamana and Mandinka ngoni, and the general study of early American black face minstrelsy.
