Dave Hum

Sunday, November 18, 2012

I'm actually brought to tears hearing of Dave's passing. Nothing I can say will make anything any better. I would just like to acknowledge to the universe that Dave Hum was an inspiration, and made the world a better place with his music.

To his family and friends at home, my deepest sympathy goes out to you.

Thanks for everything Mr. Hum

Dave

I'm From Canada, I've have been playing with a band we call "the Magnificent Sevens" since we started it in 2006. Our music is strongly influenced by the traditions of early bluegrass & country bands such as Flat & Scruggs, Bill Monroe, all the Hanks, the Stanley brothers, and other weirder bands, not normally associated with banjo stuff. Cats are of interest to me, recording music is even more interesting, but not as fuzzy. Touring has become a bigger part of my life since playing with the Magnificent Sevens, it has taken me, and the band, all across Canada and into America for the last three years or so. I've found that people in America are wonderful. I hope someday, politics and war will go away, and just let the people of the world get to know each other. Banjo picking has given me an all access pass to places I never thought I would get to go. I hope to keep going to new places, to pick with new people, for many years to come. . . . . . Not much of a bio; but if you want to know more, maybe we could get together around the kitchen table some time, and share some tunes. Dave
