Banjo Mountain |
I haven't been hangin' out on the Banjohangout much this past year due to a lot of schoolwork, etc. I'm still here at UGA and still hosting "Bluegrass Junction" at 90.5 FM WUOG Athens, Georgia and live over the web at wuog.org. Excited about this new year and new bluegrass jams in my local area. Really been workin' on my banjo skills and I feel like I've gotten considerably better. Just gotta make some new videos for YouTube(my channel is the same as my username here).
Have been spending time on other hobbies such as truck restoration, cb radio repair, antique hunting, flea-market hopping, and other stuff. It's hard to dedicate time to each hobby! Gotta buckle down and focus on schoolwork this semester so I can find an internship for this summer that relates to my major(landscape architecture).

I began playing banjo when my Dad showed me a few licks on his old banjo. I found it a lot of fun and recently I have picked up the old clawhammer playing style. My banjo inspirations are Earl Scruggs, Ralph Stanley, Stringbean, and my Dad. I also have a YouTube account and my username is "Banjomountain", so you might see me pick some tunes on YouTube. I participated in The Earl Scruggs Tribute event at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia on September 13, 2006 for an audience somewhere in the thousands. The Scruggs Tribute event set a new Guiness World Record for the Largest Instrumental Ensemble in history(239 banjo players playing Foggy Mountain Breakdown for 5 minutes).
