Many banjo players already know the story of Ernest Shackleton ensuring his crew brought a banjo across the Antarctic ice in the 1920's because it was "vital mental medicine."" But there's been at least one other banjo in Antarctica, based on a recent thread from a member in Palo Alto whose father built a banjo and took it to Antarctica in 1963 only to have the banjo fall apart after the low humidity dried up the hide glue.
