Don has a new shop, does all kinds of banjo work and he is a great honest guy. - thumpic2003

I met Don a couple of weeks ago after searching for someone to work on my 1974 RB250 on banjohangout.org. He really knows his stuff when it comes to setting up a banjo. He might be classified as a set-up magician. I dare say there's none better. - jeter

Just got back from Don's shop. You can tell if a luthier knows his stuff by the way his banjo sounds. In Don's case he has one banjo after another that comes out of the case sounding fantastic! A very humble man that had my banjo sounding great in no time at all! Highly recommend! - alivefive

I have Gibson banjo and on the rim is cut in 05 48 FE could you tell me the meaning of this combination of numbers and letters

11/21/18 - My wife and I spent yesterday morning with Don as he worked on my Baldwin Style B banjo. He dressed and leveled the frets and we installed a 5th string capo. He is a much a mentor as a luthier as he discussed everything he was doing. I learned a lot that morning. The first 4 frets are stainless, and 1 needed leveling, Don helped me do that fret with my fret file. Note that Don prefers not to work on stainless, which is hard on his tools. I knew this before I went, so I brought my own file to be used if need be. Don had no problem encouraging me to take care of that 1 fret myself (with his oversight), while I was there! Don knows what he is doing, is extremely accommodating as well as a nice guy. I would recommend him to anyone. And finally, thanx Don for your time, for addressing everything to my satisfaction and for teaching me how to level a fret.

don is one of those guys that has known you his whole life when you walk in. he knows his stuff,,, very particular,, and very stubborn on getting it right the first time. builds and repairs banjos to the level with anyone out there and is one of the nicest fellas in the business. - 1935tb-11

I met Don a couple months ago looking for someone to do fretwork on two of my banjos. Upon a recommendation by a friend I called Don and he replaced four frets on the first banjo, very reasonable, honest (he didn't try to replace all of the frets). Based on this positive experience I then took my Gibson ESS to him and he replaced all of the frets at my request. He does excellent work, reasonable priced and banjo was returned in about two weeks. I highly recommend Don. - Glasstinman

Well I need a fret job done on the Granada and I called Don. He told me to bring it on down and he would get on it. I had no clue that I would be able to go home later that afternoon with my banjo, But that is nothing on the matter compared to the work that I received. Not only did he do a fantastic job on the frets. He went above and beyond. He performed an awesome set up going through it from head to toe and setting the banjo up for me not himself. Awesome job on the frets and I still cant get over the sound this thing has. AKA Don Bryant (Banjo Master) - vastatepicker

Went to see Mr. Don last week. I had a banjo that belonged to a friend that the lag bolts in the neck needed some attention and it needed to be set up and a banjo that belong to me that needed the first five frets replaced and the set up checked out. Because I had drove such a distance Mr. Don made the repairs while I waited and as always did an outstanding job. I would highly recommend Mr. Don Bryant to anyone who needs repairs or setup work performed on your banjo. He is very patient and does outstanding work and is will to show you anything he knows. Mr. Don has done work for me several times and I always get great service from a gentleman that worries about the results of the final product and a happy and satisfied customer. - CarolinaPicker

Don is a top luthier- he is honest and easy to deal with.He has sold me parts below market price, and is pleasant and patient- even though he is very busy . Trevor - mauimusicman

My research led me to Don. The more I found out about him, the more comfortable I was. My TB 5 prewar conversion project was a challenge and Don was eager to jump in. As he carefully assembled the "team" of talent, I was assured this was going to turn out well - and did it ever. The new neck could not be a better match to the pot in every detail. I appreciate the dedication you, Clifford and Ken had as I watched closely, made choices and stayed involved with the project. I highly reccommend your services. - gramjo

12/01/17. Yesterday I had the good fortune of getting to take 2 banjos to Don Bryant. Besides being a great person, his luthier talents are unmatched. Even though I had to drive 75 miles to get to his shop, it would have been worth it to have driven much farther. I don't think ANYONE else could have made my banjos sound this good. He's knowledgeable, does fantastic work, and a great picker also. He's also VERY fair. Right now, I've got to email him and ask for his physical address because after looking at the invoice, I believe he undercharged me and I owe him some MORE money. Everyone just remember, if you want hear sounds coming out of your banjo that you never thought possible, take your banjo to him. Thank you so much Don. - wade parker

I first met Don on BHO after listening to an incredible sounding banjo he had built. I then asked Don to convert a Gibson RB250 archtop to flathead. Don did an outstanding job and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Don goes above and beyond to please his customers. He is an outstanding luthier and a really awesome person to work with. I am fortunate I have found such a nice and knowledgeable person to work on my banjos.
Thanks again, Don.

New to banjo hangout but not picking the banjo. Don set my JD Crowe Rich & Taylor up for me back in May of 2018. I hadn't played it for about 4 to 5 years. After Don worked on it, my interest in picking has been renewed. This banjo never sounded better. He really is great at what he does. Thanks Don - Banjodude59

I just had my 1926 Gibson Mastertone conversion worked on by Don at his shop in Thurmond N.C. and its a 9 hour drive from my home in Pa. and let me say it was worth the drive. Don is a true professional that understands what needs done to make your banjo do what it is designed to, sound beautiful ! Thank you Don for great job, I'm a satisfied customer....Jim N. - jim57
