Edward Victor Dick (EVD) has been building banjolas since 1996. At first they bore an "EVD Instruments" label, later "Victor Banjolas". This 1999 instrument, serial number 274, has the earlier label. At the gallery on his website he describes it as follows: “Built in January 1999. 5-String, Cedar top with mahogany back and sides. Purfling Rosette and Rosewood Bridge, fretboard, binding, and peghead overlay. Chrome Gotoh tuners and bone bridge pins." See banjolas.com/gallery/274-010-5-string/
The scale length is about 25-3/8”, lower bout 12-1/2” wide with a body depth of around 2-7/8”. Instrument is in very good condition and plays well. The only flaws are some minor scrapes and dings, and a mystery worm hole in the neck as shown in the photos. No other cracks or repairs that I can find. Action is good, and there is plenty of saddle to lower the action if ever needed. Original TKL hardshell case is included.
