1985 Ome Monarch Deluxe - SN#3034. Ome website says first Monarch Deluxe is #3069, but I received confirmation from Ome that this is a Deluxe. I bought it new in the spring of '85. Walnut neck and resonator; ebony fingerboard and peghead overlay; MOP and abalone inlays; nickel-plated hardware. Case included.
This is a used, 40-year-old banjo that shows its age. Plating is not great, especially armrest, but flanges show signs of age, too. Resonator has plenty of buckle rash and finish has some cracking at base of peghead and a small nick in top of peghead. Case is a little beat up too but still does its job. This banjo has been cared for but played, not pampered. Photos try to tell the story, but detail may not be obvious.
Professionally set up with a Moon bridge and Elixir strings. This thing kicks like a mule. I developed focal dystonia about 10 years ago and can no longer play 3-finger banjo. I switched to clawhammer several years ago, but this is not a good clawhammer banjo.
