Steve Huber and his crew are renowned for their terrific craftsmanship, and this fine style 2 neck is a testament to that reputation. The Huber shop made this neck around 2004 or 2005 for a 1928 shoe bracket Pryramid Tonering Gibson TB-2. I sold that banjo recently but the buyer had a neck he preferred to use, which is why the readers of this listing have a chance at this excellent neck.

It’s a maple neck with a 25 5/8” scale rosewood fretboard. The pearl inlays have the “Nick Lucas” style found on many mid-late 20s Style 2 Gibson Banjos.
As I noted earlier, this was made for a shoe bracket banjo so the heel is not cut for a flange. It does appear that is was at one time and that the Huber shop very cleanly plugged the void in the heel. The previous owner of the neck played it a lot and played it hard, so I had the the frets replaced a few moths ago. There is still evidence of the fun the previous owner had playing the banjo. The finish is warn off on the side of the neck on the treble side of the first position. Also, there are fingernail divots behind the the first four frets. I personally love this kind of honest character and these issues are purely cosmetic.

If you have a shoe bracket Gibson banjo that needs a neck, you won’t find a better one readily available for sale right now. There’s no six month wait and all you need is a rim and a set of your favorite tuners!
