Nice late 60's/early 70's Fender Allegro. These usually come with a brass hoop ring similar to an RB100 but someone added a tone ring to this one, And they did a really nice job of it I must say. Just look at the side closeup photo of the neck/ring/heel joint. The ring overhangs the thin black rim, exactly like the late 60's Bowties with the thin black rims. I'm not sure by any means but I've had a few late 60's Bowties sold to me as having a Faulkner ring and this one looks and sounds the same. The coordinator rod is not exactly centered between 2-holes just like those Bowties and the ring has that same shimmering bright and rich tone as well.
Anyway, someone really loved this banjo and did a really nice job w/the conversion.
Has (1) tuner peg that slips but I'll see if I can fix that. Could use some setup work but other than that, it's ready to go.
Has a really nice crisp and rich maple tone and to my ears, sounds nicer than any of vintage Fender Artists I've owned or played. And that's been a few.
Comes with a cheapie case that's not much to look at but does the job.
I've really enjoyed the time I've spent with this banjo.
