Here is a RARE circa 1920, Washburn "Improved" Banjo. In 1913, Lyon & Healy introduced a new line of "Improved" banjos with a tone ring raised on metal spikes above the rim. This raised tone ring design was obviously intended to compete with Vega-Fairbanks "Electric" models and others including the Orpheum line made by Rettburg & Lange. Interestingly, the necks on these Washburn instruments were probably made by Rettburg & Lange.
This one is all original, included the tuners, and Elite tailpiece. All matching hooks/nuts/shoes. This plays and SOUNDS amazing! Great TONE. Nice low action up the neck. Very well built banjo. The serial # is 8049, which would be around 1920. You don't see these come up for sale very often, so here is your chance!!!
