RARE Scruggs-Ruben banjo capo -- $150
This Scruggs-Ruben banjo capo was NOS when I got it at a pawn shop near the train station in Bessemer, AL, back in 1979. It has been in the cases of my various banjos ever since then, though I never used it (I preferred the smaller size of the fast-change elastic kind). Now, after more than 40 years as a full-time "professional" musician, I've been mostly retired by end-stage congestive heart failure, and I'm offering some of the . . . well, STUFF that I accumulated over the decades.
Genuine banjo players (as opposed to casual hobbyists) who revere the rich history and traditions of the 5-string bluegrass banjo sound will recognize how rare these original Scruggs-Ruben capos are, and understand that my asking price really isn't out of line for them. Yes, like (I guess) all these Scruggs-Ruben capos, the original clear tubing turned brown and flaked off twenty or thirty years ago; but I saw where someone suggested that using a bit of oxy hose from fish aquariums was a workable replacement.
I wish I could say that I'm open to trades, but that "end stage" term my cardiologist keeps using doesn't exactly give me the confidence that I could fully enjoy something I traded the capo for.
The photos are clear, and it is what it is. Being the only owner, I can answer any questions about it; though, again, it is what it is.
