***FOR SALE: Inexpensive Gold-plated Archtop Tone Ring in Good Condition -- $85 plus Shipping***

Nothing fancy here, just a cheap, used archtop tone ring that I purchased from a BHO member several years ago for a project that never got off the ground. As tone rings go, this one isn't particularly heavy and, sorry, but I don't possess an accurate scale to give you its exact weight. Also, there are some nice (i.e., as in "NOT so nice") scratches in the tone ring's outer skirt adjacent to the 11-o'clock position when viewing it face-on. With the tone ring mounted on a rim, and with the banjo sitting in your lap in the playing position, the scratches will be staring you dead in the face as you look down at the rim assembly. These scratches are circled in RED in the last photo. They're not super evident to the innocent bystander but they're there. To me, it appears the scratches are the result of somebody attaching a metal-clip strap-end to the bracket hooks in that area.

Now for the GOOD news: When the tone ring is suspended with one finger, and lightly tapped with a non-metallic utensil (e.g., a rubber mallet), the sound produced is a nice, sweet, bell-like tone, so it's got that going for it. And I'm speculating here, but if this tone ring were professionally fitted to a good rim, I'd wager that the banjo would exhibit a pleasing, musical sound in keeping with that of an archtop instrument. In other words, it's not going to sound like a dude.
