***SOLD!!!*** Thanks for your interest.
For your consideration (and just in time for the holidays!) is a Deering "Artisan" 19-fret parlor banjo in excellent condition. This Artisan banjo sports a Midnight Maple fingerboard with fancy inlays. I did a few "upgrades" to this particular banjo by replacing the stock Deering tension hoop, bracket hooks, and tailpiece with a nickel-plated grooved tension hoop, gold-plated flat bracket hooks with aged brass nuts, and a No-Knot style tailpiece. I replaced the inexpensive non-branded planetary tuners with a set of high-quality Deering-brand embossed tuners that I "borrowed" (stole is more like it!) from my very pricey, custom Jens Kruger-Eagle II hybrid banjo. I also installed amber keystone buttons to the set of four tuners, and matched a standard-shape amber button to the 5th-string tuner to better flow with the color of the keystone buttons. And lastly, I installed an 11/16-inch Purcell bridge which allows this banjo to really sing (la-la-la-LAAAAA!!! ahem).
I currently have this Artisan banjo strung with heavy-gauge John Pearse-brand "John Hartford" strings with a wound 3rd string. I like using heavy-gauge strings on shorter scale necks to better compensate for the reduced string tension and because I like to tune some of my banjos to low tunings ala Mr. Hartford (i.e., below standard pitch)... this Artisan really growls when it's tuned low! But I can string this banjo with almost any gauge strings you desire after the sale is finalized, because that's just the kind of guy I am. :o)
As stated earlier, this banjo is in excellent condition with no dings, dents, scratches, marring or scuffs to the neck's finish or the wood rim's finish for that matter. There is some tarnishing on the grooved tension hoop but only because it's 30 or 40 years old (I purchased it long ago from Stewart-MacDonald). Oh, and this banjo comes with a mint condition Deering-brand gig bag from a non-smoking, pet-free household (because I don't believe we should allow pets to smoke!).
Shipping is an addition $110 for USPS Priority Mail insured and tracked. IMPORTANT NOTE: If the actual shipping costs are less than the stated $110, the unused balance will be refunded to you through your PayPal account, or by personal check if you so desire. If, however, shipping exceeds the stated $110, I will eat the difference because that's just the way I roll. :o\
