Description
This is a 1998 Gibson Earl Scruggs Standard that would be perfect for a player. This has some checking in the finish on the resonator and a couple changed parts but it is a monster player. This is already outfitted with Keith D Tuners and this has a Kulesh Tone Ring as well.
The shell is a 3 ply hard rock maple shell. The neck and resonator are both curly maple and this has an ebony fretboard. There is a Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern along with binding on the neck and resonator.
The hardware is nickel and other then the vintage Presto the hardware is all original. This includes a Gibson USA Tone Ring and a Gibson USA one piece flange. On top of this the banjo has upgraded Keith D Tuners which I suppose are not original.
The banjo is a banger and includes an original case.
Condition
The banjo is in really good shape and has been cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse. This has been taken apart and the metal buffed and polished and the metal looks great. The finish on the resonator has light checking which is called grazing. The back of the neck has some finish worn off also.
The frets are in great shape as is the fretboard. There are no spikes but there was spikes at 7 and 9 which have been removed. This has left pin sized holes in the board which are almost invisible. If you want spikes we can do that.
The case has no issues and is in good shape.
Set Up
This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse. This has a new Remo frosted head which is set to 90. The bridge is a SCORPION bridge and this has new Huber .10 gauge strings. This is a hoss and this has been prepared to blow your socks off. Why on earth would you not buy this banjo?!
