As often seen on prewar non mastertone Gibson Banjos. This one does not have a cover or a mounting bolt. One of the eight string tabs is broken off so maybe it’s not ideal for banjo-mandolin use. The rivets have been replaced and it appears quite sturdy. There is a piece of plastic that was in there when I acquired it wedged between the back of the rivets, possibly to avoid scratching the tension hoop. I left it in there but it’s easily removed.
Now that the issues are out of the way, the nickel plating on this looks fantastic and the angle between the base and the face plate looks optimal too. With the replaced rivets, it’s likely sturdier than an original example. Thanks for looking and feel free to reach out with any questions
