Gold Tone EB-5 Electric Banjo
- Maple neck
- Planetary tuners
- 1 3/26" zero glide nut
- Rosewood fretboard
- Mahogany body
- 8" head
- 25.5" scale
When I got this banjo I was impressed / not impressed. The banjo neck is great and plays very well (impressed). The electronics were noisy, didn't sound great and felt cheap (not impressed).
I play bass, so I'm familiar with how electric instruments are wired. I pulled this banjo apart and noticed the ground wire was disconnected from the bridge, so I soldered that back in place. The pots were mini pots, and I replaced them with full sized ones. I replaced the output jack with a switchcraft jack and I replaced the stock pickup with a Seymour Duncan Bluesbucker which made a huge improvement.
This banjo is an affordable electric banjo that sounds good. The problem is I play clawhammer, and my gigantic ham hand is too large for the small 8" head. I keep hitting the bridge, so it's time to move on.
This banjo comes with the Gold Tone gig bag it came with and I'll throw in the Souldier strap I got for it.
I don't do returns. I'll take videos, pictures, facetime, etc. but I don't want to tie up by instrument for months as it goes out for test runs. Plus I can't handle the stress of the going back and forth of constant shipping. Please let me know if you have any questions.
