It breaks my heart to list this banjo, mostly because from a craftsmanship standpoint, this is most beautifully built banjo I've ever owned. Steve did an amazing job with it. When I bought this banjo, I was chasing a certain "tone" - kind of that "old timey plunk" but not the flabby kind of plunk, the focused one. Well, this banjo delivers. I've used it with both steel and nylgut. Sounds killer.
However, you know when you get exactly what you think you wanted, but maybe, just maybe it was the chase you were after... I've always played a whyte laydie. Love it. That's the sound I hear in my head when I hear "banjo music". I hear people talk about "plunk" and "mellow" and "warm" and thought I wanted it. Well, I got this banjo in April, and I've made sure to put some hours onto it to make sure, but it turns out this banjo isn't getting picked up unless I force myself to do it, and that is a shame because it is truly a beautiful instrument.
It's starting to collect dust, and I can't stand that this isn't being used by someone, it's that nice, so I've decided to offer it up.
Here's the deal - if you want to call me, skype, facetime, zoom, whatever, I'm happy to walk over every inch of this instrument with you. If you are in the greater Minneapolis area and want to come by, have at it. But, I'm sorry, I take great care when I pack an instrument to ship it off, and I'm a wreck when it's in the mail, but if it got broken in transit, I know I did everything in my power to prevent that, and I accept that. I can't handle someone mailing it back to me as a "return" and it getting broken and having to work that through. So unless it gets damaged in transit to you, all sales are final. But I am happy, more than happy, to spend time with you to make sure you are satisfied with this before shipping it out. I may have only sold one instrument here, but I have sold north of 20 on Reverb and I have a perfect rating there.
Please reach out with any questions. Thanks.
