California-made Fender Allegro from the 1970s set up for Irish playing in GDAE. It’s in excellent condition except for a couple of blemishes on the back of the resonator. It came to me with a Blaylock arch-top conversion ring and an Oettinger-style tailpiece, both desirable upgrades. The conversion ring takes the place of the tone hoop and sits on the rim with a raised bead to decrease the effective diameter of the head slightly to make a snappier sound. Have a look at this expired ad for one that I found BHO: banjohangout.org/classified/32087 (No permanent mods to the banjo). I will also include the original tone hoop that sits on the outer edge of the rim. Since I’ve owned the banjo, I’ve installed a new bottom frosted head, a Celt bridge from Bart Veerman in Canada, and new Gotoh tuners to replace a set of antiqued Gotohs that just didn’t look right. It’s not a lightweight, coming in at close to 10 pounds, but the heavy rim and flange make for a really great sounding banjo. Will ship with the original hard-shell case.
