To the best of my knowledge, this banjo is from between 1969 and 1973. I saw this based on the return to the "leaves and bows" inlay pattern, the black rim with tube-and-plate flange, Gibson branded tuners, Gibson stamped two-leg armrest, and other notable characteristics. It was made in Kalamazoo.
I know this era of Gibson banjos is not the most well-regarded. That said, the flathead ring in this banjo appears to be full weight and is fit well. The rim is the weakest point, but the tube has not gone over the bead as I have heard other report is an issue with these. Also, the binding is intact.
The tone ring is the GBB flathead ring.
There is a hardshell case included. The case's leather handle is missing, but it latches and protects the banjo just fine.
Here is a short video of the banjo (youtube.com/watch?v=VU4GHlrAOA...nsylvania)
I feel I have priced this banjo reasonably, but there is a little wiggle-room. Because I am selling it on behalf of someone else, I am limited in how much I can haggle on it.
