This is a Gibson prewar parts bounty! Assembled into a killer hot rod of a banjo. I have it priced pretty much totaling the value of all the parts. First from the outside the first impression would be it is a style 4. True as far as the resonator is concerned. It has the chalk number and paint and 100% prewar. That's about where the style 4 ends. The metal is all prewar and nickel. The neck is Huber ( I did the inlays) beautiful curly maple chosen for the sound and tone from my perspective only.
Moving inwards is where it gets fun. The tone ring is 20 hole full flathead prewar nickel. Yes an original flathead ring 3lbs or so. It came originally out of West Virginia. It is validated and verified and has passed through the usual suspects hands at different times so no worries as to validity.
Next to add to the mix, the rim is 100% original flathead, full sticker, prewar with stamped number and was from a Florentine. The outside has been cut to fit the original one piece flange and finished to match the exterior. Now if you are in to tone, the banjo with the combo of the original flat ring and rim originally cut for a flat ring is amazing. When do you get this opportunity?
If you are in the market for a player with prewar mojo, here you go. Feel free to ask questions. I'd rather not ship and I really don't want any trades although I might consider a OPF TB-3 or 75 in trade (why trade put the ring in that if you like and sell the other parts Ha!) Thanks D
