Recently completed 5-string conversion using a 10.5" ~1920s Lynbrook rim and a Vega-style Eastman neck. The neck is maple and ebony and has been stained to match the amber color of the rim. It has a satin Tru Oil finish and I have added side dot position markers. The maple rim is from a ~1920s Lynbrook tenor. It features a sort of mini-dobson/bacon style flared tone ring. The rim hardware is all original except for the reproduction no-knot tailpiece. The head is a no-logo Remo Renaissance. New 4:1 planetary geared tuners with grained ivoroid buttons.
The banjo is currently set up with 1/8" action at the 12th fret with a 5/8" bridge and light gauge steel strings. The tone has great clarity without being harsh.
Feel free to message with any questions or for a sound sample.
