Old five string. Unknown Maker. It has a one-piece neck and 17 frets. There are no frets at the bottom of the fingerboard to facilitate strumming. From Nut to pot - 17.75 inches. From Nut to Bridge - 25.25 inches. The banjo has an 11 inch skin head and a metal-clad wood pot with 48 Brackets. Two of the nuts do not match the rest. One hook does not match. All of the bracket shoes match. The tuners are modern geared tuners, obviously not original but they do the job.The tailpiece is a very simple one and may be original but I am not sure. This banjo is old and shows signs of its age but is very playable. The dowel was reconstructed to set the neck to the correct angle. This isn't a fancy-schmancy banjo and was probably an entry-level instrument, but it is playable. It will be sent in a fabric-covered "trap door " style case. the case could be original but I am not sure.
