Nice blend of an antique vintage bird's eye Sovereign banjo pot made by Oscar Schmidt in the mid 1920's with a newly crafted maple neck. The banjo is all set up and ready to play. You can listen to this banjo being played in the clawhammer stye by clicking on the link below. The tune is Seneca Square Dance played in G tuning.
The 9 7/8" maple pot is all original and is in excellent condition with only very minor tarnish on some of the hooks. Has a “little wonder” style tone ring. The original skin head even has the name of a former owner written on the inside. Rim cap is walnut. Neck to pot fit is tight and secure.
The neck was crafted from 3 pieces of Maple with a Rosewood fretboard and mop position dots. The scale is the standard 26 1/4". String height is 3mm above the 12th fret. The peghead ears are walnut as is the peghead overlay. All tuners are new. The banjo stays in tune and notes true up and down the neck with no string buzzes. The banjo weighs in at 4 1/2 pounds.
There is no case, but the banjo will be packed carefully and shipped insured.
