1938 Recording King 5 string banjo conversion. Model M-6 stenciled on the original peghead but referred to as model #1593 in the Ward catalog and Gibson shipping records. The 5 string replica neck was made by Mark Hickler . We decided to use MOP inlay on the peghead instead of the original stencil logo and a 25.5 scale instead of the 27" on the original 5 string model. The original tenor neck and Grover patent tuners will be included in the sale. The stock calf skin head is torn but will be included upon request. The pot is all original excluding the head and bridge. We used a few newer flat hooks to accommodate the new fiberskin head but have the original hooks. This banjo was made at the Gibson Kalamazoo plant in 1938 for Montgomery Wards . It is similar to the Gibson 00 model. The RK is a little more ornate with a multi-ply binding, moderate flame maple sunburst resonator that is a little deeper than the Gibson. They share the same prewar one piece flange that was used on some Mastertone models. Also included is the original nifty MW hang tag with instrument care and warranty information. This was the top of the line in the Montgomery Wards catalog selling for $24.95 cash. No original case for this one but I will ship it in a 70's import banjo case that will get it to you safely. Thanks for looking.
