Well how many of these have you seen !?!....this is a vintage dreadnaught made by Joe Baker out of Thomasville NC.....i estimate this to be from around the late 60's to early 70's...other than the fact that his guitars were made from old piano wood the odd thing about his guitars is that he used a piano string as the truss rod.....he used a piano key mounted on the headstock with a piano string running inside the whole length of the neck and attaching at the neck block as seen in the pictures...another odd feature is the extreme angle that the headstock has....he calls his guitar the Baker piano guitar....his guitars were owned and played by people such as Bill Anderson and Mother Mabelle Carter....yes it shows it's age with finish checking and some wear from playing and such....overall i would say it is in great restorable condition...there are 3 small screw hole where a trapeze type tailpiece had been mounted at one time but is a very easy fix....i have never strung it up but i laid a 3' ruler on the neck and the guitar does not need a neck reset for the angle/action looks great and still retains what looks like a full height saddle.....what is it worth? well it might be worth $800.00 or it might be worth $5000.00 i don't know!!...i am not set up to do the work to bring this back to it's full potential but maybe you are?.....i would like to trade it for a nice Calton/Hoffe/Price banjo case or maybe even a nice Dreadaught case made by Calton/Hoffee/Price....so if you have a hankering to take on a small project then maybe we can work something out....thanks
