This banjo was made by S.S. Stewart in 1894. It is in very good condition—and has a beautiful, rich tone.
• Cherry neck; ebony fingerboard
• 11” head, 20 brackets
• Single pearl star in center of headstock, with inlay of diamonds on neck
• Peg head is chipped in back and has been repaired (as shown in photo)
• No case included
• A similar instrument has been offered on Reverb for $950
This instrument belonged to my late brother-in-law, Jonathan Pickow, who was a professional old-timey musician.
I am new to Banjo Hangout, but Jon told me that this was the best place to find a good instrument. I am an author/compiler of music books (and not a banjo player myself), but I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have about this instrument as best I can. Just email me through this ad.
