Early 1920s Orpheum No. 3 with a beautifully inlaid Bill Rickard 5-string neck (replacing the original four-string neck, as pictured, and which will be included in the sale).

Old-time master Walt Koken plays an Orpheum No. 4. Early photos of Charlie Poole show him playing an Orpheum No. 3. Not your typical clawhammer tone, though Koken plays his Orpheum to good effect. Beautifully sweet tone up the neck.

Inlay does not reproduce original No. 3 pattern closely, but still looks luminous and great. Plating on the metal parts is in really good shape. Frets on the Rickard neck are like new. Scale length on new neck is 25.5 inches. Wire armrest included.

John Balch expertly mounted the pictured hide head. Rim size is approximately 11 inches. Banjo will ship with a near-new Golden Gate hard shell case. All of the original dowel stick hardware and the cool historic “Orpheum” tuning wrench will also be included.

An old-new vintage beauty.
