12.5" pot Bay State Banjeurine.
I restored this banjo after receiving it with no fingerboard, head or headstock overlay.
. Solid nickel silver overlay
. New fretboard (ebony or Richlite,
can't remember which I used)
. New frets
. Frets leveled and dressed
. Cocobolo headstock overlay
. New calfskin head
. New ebony friction violin-style tuners
. Steel non-adjustable rod installed in
neck with epoxy
After replacing the fretboard extension to the neck, I installed a steel rod in the neck, gluing it in with epoxy. I added the new fretboard and set this up with about a 19.5" scale.
Aquila strings and vintage but non-original tailpiece.
All the shoes appear original, and all but a few nuts & hooks appear original as well.
I only have a rudimentary peg shaver and hole reamer, so the pegs fit and hold. You may find the tuners fine as-is or might want to have them adjusted / fine-tuned, or replaced, so consider that before buying or making anoffer
This is a fun little banjo that makes a great travel banjo and/or conversation piece. I'm tempted to keep it, as my left shoulder, after surgery, likes that short neck.
See below for a link to a short demo.
