One of only 26, No hole Tone ring units, built in 1928
Rogers hide head and Grover 'pancake style' tuners.
Original tenor neck shows normal fret wear which indicates it was played well during its period of time.
Resonator in great shape with minimal wear. Beautiful cream binding around top and back edge of resonator.
These old original archtops have lots of tonal character and power. Owners of these no-hole tone ring banjos, know that they possess great fat bottom end and clear expressive highs. This 5 string instrument will provide strong response when outside jamming and clean and expressive clarity in recording settings. The neck was build in 2019 by the late Robin Smith. Beautiful straight grain Old growth Mahogany neck, radiused 10/16 ebony fingerboard. Equipped with a Diamonds and Squares inlay pattern and 11/16 Scorpion Bridge. Case and tenor neck / included.
