One-of-a-kind open back 5-string banjo from Trillium Octave Mandolins in New Hampshire, USA. Completed in Sept. 2020 for my own use. It has seldom been played and never taken from my pet-free, smoke-free home. It remains in excellent condition.
A single billet of Claro Walnut was used for both the rim and neck. It is nicely figured and has a rich, variegated color. Finished with an oil and urethane mixture.
The block rim was made using a modified "stave" construction, rather like a barrel. In other words, the grain orientation is top-to-bottom. Lathe turned and sanded. 12" outside diameter, 11" inside diameter (1/2" rim thickness) and 2 3/4" tall.
The neck has a contrasting black center lamination and a “boat” heel.
2-way adjustable truss rod, accessible under the removeable brass frailing scoop cover.
Ebony faceplate and fingerboard with “gold” mother-of-pearl fret markers. HO railroad spikes at frets 7 & 9.
25.34” scale length and 1 3/8” un-bleached bone nut.
Grained Ivoroid fingerboard binding with side dot position markers.
Top quality raw brass hardware throughout. Dobson style tone ring and Gotoh geared tuning pegs with black buttons. Pisgah tailpiece. Fiberskyn head.
Deluxe custom Cedar Creek hardshell case.
