This 5-string neck was originally a Kalamazoo by Gibson. Luthier David Foster in TN converted this neck using the original Brazilian fretboard with new inlays. The Kalamazoo had no volute or truss rod so this makes for a very lightweight neck...only 12 ounces! The heel on the Kalamazoo is a tad narrow so it was built up to proper size and width for one-piece-flange heel cut (originally a straight heel cut). So much of the banjo tone and responsiveness of the Prewar Gibson is in the neck. This would be a fantastic addition to a Prewar Gibson flathead or conversion. Weather checking can be seen on the back of the peghead in the pictures. This would be a fantastic addition to a Prewar Gibson flathead or conversion.
