I recently purchased this fiddle from an estate in Western Maryland. I do not know who made it but suspect it is of European origin. It needs some TLC ... at a minimum the top needs to be glued back down in two spots, anew sound post needs to be installed, and it'll need a new nut. I am not a violin expert and am selling this as-is as a project, so look at the photos closely. I think it may have been re-varnished at some point. This violin looks to be a fairly nice build, definitely superior to a typical German factory fiddle. It hasn't been played in some time as evidenced by the gut strings still installed, and it has a couple of previous repairs (shown in photos). The crack in the top next to the diamond patch appears to be stable and sealed, but again, I'm no expert! I don't see any label or signature inside the violin.
