For your consideration, is an all original pristine example of an extremely rare Fairbanks Vega Tubaphone number 9 Five string Plectrum Banjo circa 1925 serial # 44429. The serial numbers on the dowel and rim are matching. 1.5” nut width, 27” scale. 11&13/16” head. Neck and fingerboard are dead straight and it intonates beautifully up the neck and extension This Banjo was previously owned by the greatest banjo player in the world, Buddy Wachter and I purchased it from him about five years ago. It needed a good set up and I had world renowned Banjo Luthier Renee Karnes set it up with a frosted head, adjusted the action by slightly moving the dowel stick as pictured herein. The original mother of pearl tuning buttons were placed on modern geared machine heads and the original friction tuners are included in the case pocket. I have it set up to play as a five string bluegrass banjo currently with a spike at the fifth fret holding down the high G fifth string. That can easily be removed and the Banjo can be converted to a traditional five string plectrum configuration, should the new owner so desire. The condition is outstanding and all of the hardware is original and there are no breaks, cracks or repairs of any kind. I added a Vega pie plate flush resonator which is included in the sale. It comes in an original Epiphone Bandmaster case. The playability of this Banjo is excellent in every regard and and the frets are in very good shape. As evidenced by the photographs the Heel carving and inlays are in absolutely magnificent condition. These five string plectrums are ultra rare and this has to be the cleanest one on the planet. The tone of this treasure is nothing short of miraculous and it is suitable for a wide variety of styles. Buy this now and own an heirloom quality piece of American Jazz Age banjo history. It just doesn’t get any better than this
